An interlocking concrete paving stone pavement is more superior to any other pavement. This is because our paver is 13,000 psi and only up to 3% absorption, which makes for an extremely durable wearing course that is long lasting and virtually maintenance free. The life expectancy of a paving stone pavement is over 30 years compared to maybe 10 years for concrete or asphalt.

A very important aspect of interlocking concrete pavement is that it is a flexible pavement system which is resistant to damage due to freezing and thawing cycles, which is very important in our markets.

Another advantage is that these pavements can handle extremely heavy loads making them suitable for applications from walkways/plazas to airport taxiways. With pavers, color and texture can be added to any paved area without sacrificing durability – no other pavement gives you all of this.

Here in Minnesota, the Midwest, Colorado and surrounding Western states we have proven that standard is not enough due to freezing and thawing cycles and the exposure to deicing chemicals, especially on commercial applications.

What makes Borgert’s paving stone system flexible is the construction of the pavement. A proper base is required and is essential no matter what type of pavement you are building. The only thing different with concrete paving stones is that you need a one-inch setting bed to place the pavers on top of, then you compact the pavers into the sand, which creates the “lock” of the system. You see, the pavers work with each other distributing any pressure - from heavy wheel loads or from heaving due to freeze/thaw cycles - throughout the entire pavement.
